Sardinia’s northwest coast shelters a trio of the most attractive seaside resorts on the island, interspersed with some really spectacular coastline. The principal town on this stretch is Alghero. Sardinia stands in sharp contrast to the Italian mainland and Sicily, and Alghero provides an even sharper contrast to Sardinia itself.

Alghero was not greatly disturbed by foreign influences in modern times until it suffered bombings during World War II. Alghero is one of those places that the Italians have been happy to keep to themselves. Every year thousands upon thousands of main land Italians swarm to Alghero for the first two weeks of August, the traditional Italian holiday season.

In the late sixties, Kashmir suddenly became the most sought after destination for tourists from both India as from abroad. The locals believe Gods loved to spend time here.

Popular as the ‘Gateway to South India’, Chennai is the capital of the Tamil Nadu state and India’s fourth largest metropolitan city. The city has a rich historical heritage, lending it a mystifying charm to it. The city was under the Portuguese during the 16th century, later the Dutch, and East India Company rule followed. Finally, the British established their domination on the city and the Fort St George became the center around which the British authority grew and expanded.

When traveling through airport security it is important for all passengers to be comfortable with the screening process. Mount Wuyi, widely considered to be one of the most beautiful spots in China, stands south of Wuyishan, a city in Fujian province. The mountain’s slopes are covered by a vast subtropical forest and dotted with a number of important archaeological sites. Because of its natural beauty and its historical significance, Mount Wuyi was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999.

One of these important historical sites is the ruins of an ancient Han city built during the 1st century BC as an administrative center. The site is filled with important relics and Neo-Confucian temples. Numerous studies on the effects of Confucius’s philosophies on Chinese culture have been based on the temples on Mount Wuyi. There are also a number of ruined Taoist temples and a once-magnificent palace.

Recently completing our 10 year anniversary of the inaugural Death Trip a couple weeks ago, we started reminiscing about previous trips.
