Recently completing our 10 year anniversary of the inaugural Death Trip a couple weeks ago, we started reminiscing about previous trips. A common theme of unfortunate mishaps have come to the forefront having to do with our food preparation and cooking skills (or lack there of). Being the oldest and the founder of the Death Trips, I am the primary chef on these trips with my #1 backup, Drew. The Kenai River salmon fishing experience is a one of a kind adventure. The Kenai river salmon fishing habitat or Special Management Area (SMA) consists of over one hundred and fifty miles of waterways including the main Kenai River, tributaries, streams and lakes. GPS systems have many uses. There are hobby uses such as geocaching, which involves lists of locations where the user can find treasures, which are generally trinkets and other items of little objective value.
Other hobby oriented uses include camping and hiking. It can be a difficult task to determine exactly where the hiker is on the map. The less terrain there is, the more difficult a precise location can become. In a desert it can be very difficult to determine exactly where you are located without spending time to calculate a resection on the map. This can also be an issue in an environment where visibility is low, such as a swamp or forest. There the only real alternatives are dead reckoning or GPS.
